A project in progress
Connecting the people who keep Hatha Yoga alive.
Travel Guru is a small directory I’m building — one that connects Gurukulam-trained Hatha Yoga teachers, the students looking to learn from them, and the hosts who provide the space where a class can actually happen.
This isn’t a live app yet, and I’d rather say that plainly than oversell it. Right now it’s a short list I’m building by hand — teachers I’ve met and trust, and a small circle of students and hosts who’ve asked to be part of the first version.
If that sounds like you, the honest next step is a direct conversation, not a signup form — see below.
The gap between three good things.
Traveling through this practice, I kept meeting the same three kinds of people, standing just out of reach of each other. Teachers trained the old way, in a Gurukulam, who carry real depth but often have no reach beyond a small circle. Students who want exactly that kind of teaching and have no idea where to look for it, because it doesn’t advertise itself. And hosts — studio owners, or just people with a spare room and a good floor — who have the space for a class but no way to find the right teacher to fill it.
Travel Guru is my attempt to close that gap: a small, trustworthy directory that puts these three in the same room, instead of leaving it to chance encounters like the one that got me here.
Gurukulam-trained Hatha Yoga teachers
A place to be found by students who are specifically looking for traditional training — not lost in a general listings site.
People looking for the real thing
A short, trustworthy list of teachers vetted for lineage and training, not just proximity or price.
Spaces looking for the right teacher
A way to offer your space — a studio, a home, a retreat corner — to a teacher whose class is genuinely worth hosting.
Want to be part of the first version?
I’m building this by hand right now, one conversation at a time, before it’s ever a piece of software. If you’re a teacher, a student, or a host and this sounds like you, reach out directly — or join the newsletter to hear when there’s more to see.
